Car prices in the UAE move with the calendar. Ramadan campaigns, the Dubai Shopping Festival, the summer departure season and new-model arrivals all create windows where the same car costs noticeably less — here's when to buy and when to hold off.
Ramadan offers and the Shopping Festival
Dealers concentrate their biggest offers of the year around Ramadan — cash discounts, free insurance and registration, service packages — and again over the Dubai Shopping Festival in December and January. Used prices soften in both windows as showrooms clear trade-ins. If your timing is flexible, these are the UAE's most predictable discount seasons.
Summer: the departure season
June to August is when people leaving the UAE sell their cars, often against a hard deadline. Supply rises, well-kept family cars appear with full service history, and motivated sellers negotiate. Clean, quick offers win — have your financing and paperwork ready so you can move first.
Year-end model clearances
New model-year stock lands late in the year, and showrooms discount the outgoing year to clear it — conveniently overlapping the Shopping Festival season, which stacks the two discounts. That clearance ripples into used prices for the same model, so the weeks around year-end are consistently good value.
When a new generation launches
Depreciation is fastest when a model is fully redesigned: the outgoing generation drops in value the moment the new shape reaches showrooms. If you're buying used and don't mind the older look, a just-replaced generation is one of the best value plays in the market.
The worst times to buy
Demand spikes right before Eid, in the first weeks after a popular model launches, and in September when new arrivals and the school year land at once. If you have to buy then, negotiate the total drive-away cost — registration, insurance, tinting and accessories — rather than the sticker price alone.
