Across dealers with at least 8 estimated sales in the last ninety days, the typical time from listing to sale is 45 days. A pace under 2 days is left out: that is ads coming back, not cars selling.

How these figures are counted

  • Listing counts are counts of ads on the sites we track: the same car advertised on two sites is two ads, and the new-car price catalogue is left out.
  • A seller counts as a dealer, a showroom or a private seller as the site itself labels it. Where a site does not say, the seller is not stated.
  • The rankings and the shares of named ads use only business ads that show the seller's name. A business that sells only on sites we do not track does not appear.
  • Sales are estimates, not records: a car counts once when its ads left the sites we track and it looks sold, confirmed by the site or likely sold. Most are inferred.
  • The figures are recomputed several times a day and quoted with the date they were computed.

A dealer can ask us to correct or remove its page, and a removed dealer leaves this page too.
